Materials List



Art Box or waterproof toolbox (fish tackle box) to keep all supplies in 8” x 10" or larger sketchbook (spiral or hardbound)

18 x 24” Drawing Paper – spiral bound >> minimum size Drawing pencils: HB, 2B, 6B, Ebony, pencil sharpener
Compressed Charcoal – 3 sticks – soft or medium
paper stumps
1 small piece of chamois cloth and/or cotton cloth
Black and Titanium White acrylic paints
Plastic or metal palette knife
India Ink + plastic water container (Pepper will supply)
Bamboo brush – round # 4 or #6
1 chopstick hand sharpen one end
Metal compass
Rubber paper cement
Spool of white string or jute/twine
1” Artists’ Tape or Drafting Tape
Scissors
Handled X-Acto blade or Matt knife
Metal edged ruler (18”)
1 box clear pushpins
Spray can of Charcoal Fixative (Pepper will supply)
Roll of Wax paper from the grocery store (Pepper)
Inexpensive Watercolor set (12 colors, pucks or tubes)
Selection of colored pencils (inexpensive)
Kneaded Eraser, White Plastic drawing eraser
Black vinyl portfolio to carry all drawings in or something 

WATERPROOF! 2 pocketed paper folder to keep all handout and assignments secure 

Vine Charcoal – 6 sticks – Soft or Medium

Other supplies may be announced in advance of assignments including 100% rag paper, illustration board, frosted vellum, tracing paper, etc.

The Materials VINE CHARCOAL Vine charcoal is a piece of charred willow. It comes in different softness/hardness varieties. Soft vine charcoal will produce dark gray value, Medium will be lighter, Hard produces the lightest value range. It moves very easily on paper. Its easy to manipulate, almost like clay. It's easy to blend with and remove with a kneaded or plastic eraser. COMPRESSED CHARCOAL Compressed charcoal is much darker.  There is a bit of oil in it, and thus the values you can produce will get much darker than vine.  The blackness you can produce is very rick and dark. Guidelines for Multi Media Research Presentations

FALL 2019 Guidelines for Research project and multi media presentation     Each student will deliver a 8 - 10 minute multi media research presentation to the class. The purpose of the assignement  is to educate the class of the contributions the artist/designer has made, and  puts each student in the role of educator.  The lectures will include strong visuals and informative facts about the artist/designer   Following there will will be a short Q&A with the class as a whole.    Prior to student presentations, the digital file needs to be sent to me electronically one day prior to the student presentation.   Presentation Checklist > 8 items: _________           Presentations are informative including brief bio, slides of works and how the work fits into the “cultural moment,” including how it is appropriate to our class.  It is not a report on the artist. _________   ...

Visual Lecture # Cezanne, Scheile, Dumas -> H20 Media

Paul Cezanne French  1839 - 1906 Paul Cézanne was a French artist and  Post-Impressionist painter  whose work was the foundation for transitioning from a 19th-century conception of artistic endeavor to a new and radically different way of looking at subject matter towards the 20th century.  His work eventually leads the way towards the beginning of breaking up space into smaller parts and cubes.    Egon Scheile Austrian 1980 - 1918 Schiele was a protégé of Gustav Klimt.  Schiele was a major figurative painter of the early 20th century. His work is noted for its intensity and its raw sexuality, and the many  self-portraits  the artist produced, including naked self-portraits. The twisted body shapes and the expressive line that characterize Schiele's paintings and drawings mark the artist as an early exponent of Expressionist art. He died at the age of 28 of the flu. ...
