Principles of Visual Design

Symmetry Bi-lateral symmetry vertical / horizontal axis Bilateral Symmetry - horizontal axis B Bilateral Symmetry - vertical  axis Radial symmetry  - elements that are arranged around a central point  Domed  Ocular  (window) in architecture a sea urchin Op-Art  Such a strong contrast between black and white our eyes are unable to focus and thus optically look as if the drawing is moving Emphasis through strong light source = Chiaroscuro  Emphasis   is the part of the design that catches the viewer’s attention. Elements of Visual Design

The  elements  and  principles of design   are the foundational building blocks used to create a visual work.  The elements of design are the A, B, C's that are put together by any artist or  designer  to create an image or object.   The  grammar  of how these elements are used create the overall visual work.   Good or bad, all visual works will contain most of these elements, if not all, the nine elements of design.
